Quality Control Manager

Job  Responsibilities

  • Managing activities associated with maintaining all company certifications and external agency approvals such as AS9100, AS9100, AS9110 and Part 145
  • Managing all inspection functions, configuration management and quality assurance processes.
  • Serving as the interface with customers and vendors on all quality related topics.
  • Driving Defect Paretos and closure of MRRs and Root-Cause Corrective Action and mistake proofing to ensure year-over-year decrease in defects.
  • Drive the efficient, lean use of Quality to ensure that product conforms, but also continues to support on-time delivery.
  • Maintains and share effective metrics for process yield; defects escapes; the cost of poor quality; supplier disruptions, statistical capability (CPK), and audit robustness.
  • Provides effective Contract review for Quality Assurance specifications and adherence prior to new contract proposals and awards, then interacts closely with customers to proactively mitigate disruptions and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Educates and champions the use of the Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools (e.g., 5S, Standard Work, TPM, Kaizen events, etc.) across the organization to reduce lead times, increase on-time delivery, and improve product first pass yield.
  • Ensure effective implementation and performance of the Corrective and Preventive Action Programs inclusive of Corrective Action Requests issued internally, received from customers, or received from third-party audits.
  • Monitor related and third-party suppliers’ quality performance, ensure compliance with company standards, overriding contractual requirements and, where warranted, develop and oversee related Corrective Action Plans and actions.
  • Coordinate the completion of complex customer-issued Supplier Surveys or certifications.
  • Continuous improvement in quality control efficiency and throughout without increasing escapes.
  • Develop data-driven and customer-focused capabilities that result in measurable improvements in product, process and supplier quality, customer support and responsiveness and product reliability.
  • Implements quality policies consistent with customer requirements, quality regulations and the company procedures (QMS)
  • Evaluates internal compliance to all requirements, identifies areas requiring corrective action, and follows through to ensure effectiveness of improvements (Problem Solving)

Required Skills and Education 

  • 5 plus years in a manufacturing industry, preferably within a regulated, batch specialty chemical production environment. Automotive or Aerospace experience a plus.
  • Proven strength in manufacturing, assembly, operations, Lean, P&L, and first-rate leadership skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Lean, as modeled after the Toyota Production System.
  • Experience in the processes of Supply Chain management.
  • Multi-plant environment experience and remote management preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills (People Manager).
  • Problem Solving experience is a MUST
  • Ability learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to build, maintain and enhance client relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Proactively engages internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must possess the ability to establish rapport and working relationships at all levels of the organization and communicate effectively throughout.
  • Has a strong bias for action, can communicate vision clearly and be a driver of change.
  • Has an agile leadership style; able to adjust one’s approach to fit the situation as a driver, coach, mentor, or teacher.
